Hi,
I'm Valine.
Hi, I’m Valine Kobasic—wife, mom to two adventurous daughters, serial entrepreneur, and the farm-loving photographer behind Hoof & Beak Photography.
Most days you’ll find me barefoot in the grass of our Upper Peninsula hobby farm, camera in one hand and a coffee in the other, surrounded by goats, horses, chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, and the occasional cat who thinks it’s a model. Living and working alongside so many spirited animals (plus two even more spirited kids!) taught me how to capture genuine, unscripted moments—the belly laughs, muddy boots, wind-blown hair, and quiet glances that tell the truest stories.
When I’m not behind the lens I run Kobasic Creations, crafting laser-cut signs and décor that ship all over the country, and I’ve spent years growing businesses, cheering on fellow makers, and learning how to balance ambition with family life. Those experiences fuel my approach to photography: organized yet playful, detail-obsessed yet laid-back, always focused on making you feel comfortable enough to be your authentic self.
Whether you’re booking a sunset session in the pasture, a brand shoot for your small business, or a cozy lifestyle set at home, I bring the same blend of creativity, professionalism, and a dash of farm-style fun. Let’s create images that feel exactly like you—because your story deserves to be framed just as beautifully as it’s lived.
Can’t wait to meet you at golden hour,
Valine
From grass-roots
beginnings.
Roots don’t run much deeper than the red dirt and pine needles of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I grew up a country girl just outside the treeline—one sister to a pair of rough-and-tumble brothers, always ankle-deep in manure or grass and surrounded by four-legged friends. 30 miles away, my future husband was navigating Escanaba’s sidewalks and fishing off the city docks, dreaming big from a smaller map dot. Two hometown kids—one farm-raised, one city-bred—found each other, blended our worlds, and built a life where pasture sunsets meet Lake Michigan breezes. Those grounded beginnings shape everything we do today, from raising our daughters to capturing authentic stories through the lens.
